Local housing proposals for Baldock

posted 9 Oct 2014, 12:21 by The Baldock Society   [ updated 9 Oct 2014, 12:21 ]
On the 22nd September, some 250 residents gathered at St Mary's Junior school for a special meeting.

Organised by the councillors and not sanctioned by NHDC, the meeting was intended to alert residents about proposals for future development in Baldock.

The councillors are doing all they can to get the information out to residents in an impartial way so that they will not be debarred from voting. It is up to residents to take responsibility for spreading the information and for encouraging others to contact members of NHDC and to demonstrate the unfairness of the allocation.

Ideas about how the town might proceed were:
  • Set up an action group
  • Lobby MP, HCC, NHDC in large numbers to show that the town is bothered (Quantity has an impact). Possibly contact party leaders
  • Write to the local press
  • Write as individuals preferably using their own words rather than a template.
  • The “Save Rural Baldock” Group offered to act as a focal point for discussion and dissemination of ideas. (website: saveruralbaldock.co.uk)
