The Baldock Society events

The Baldock Society holds a general meeting for members at 8pm on the third Thursday of each month (except December) at Baldock Community Centre, Simpson Drive, Baldock SG7 6DH.

Meetings offer an update on Baldock Society Committee activity during the previous month and offer members the opportunity to discuss and feed back on issues affecting the town. Meetings then continue to a talk on one of a variety of subjects. This year's talks are detailed below.

Entry is free to Baldock Society members and costs £1 for visitors (which can be put against your membership if you join on the night). Refreshments are included and there is a raffle.

2010 Meetings

21 January 2010		Annual General Meeting 'official' AGM business will be followed by a buffet, wine, quizzes and a raffle. If you intend to attend the AGM, please reserve your place before 5 January 2010. Simply complete and return the slip on the 2010 membership renewal form: 2010 AGM reservation and membership renewal Non members may reserve a place at the price of £2.00.

18 February 2010		Baldock Town Centre - 9 months on Louise Symes from NHDC's Planning Policy and Projects and Mehron Kirk from BDP will talk and take questions on the Baldock Town Centre Enhancement project. Note - due to likely demand and limited space, you must reserve your place to attend this session. Members will have received a reservation form with our their renewal form (sent out before Christmas 2009). Non-members and members who have yet to reserve their place should contact us in advance to reserve any remaining spaces. Click here to contact us.

18 March 2010		Members' Evening The Committee will update members on the Society's activities and generally discuss members' issues and concerns regarding Baldock.

15 April 2010		Work of the Hertfordshire Building Preservation Trust by Dorothy Abel-Smith M.B.E.

Saturday 15 May 2010		The Baldock Society will have a display in the small hall of the Community Centre, featuring photographs comparing Baldock before and after the enhancement. There will be a special membership price for the day of the Street Fair only. Details of the Street Fair can be found on the *Baldock Festival website (external site)**.

20 May 2010		Thanks for the memory by Judy Flack Memorials in Hertfordshire, including the background to one in St Mary's Churchyard.

17 June 2010		The River Thames by Martin Copping

15 July 2010		Baldock Town Centre Manager - Murray Fastier Find out about the work of Baldock's new TCM and his vision for Baldock.

19 August 2010		An evening with Baldock's Councillors Come and quiz your Councillors on your thoughts about Baldock.

16 September 2010		A notebook, a whistle and a truncheon by Keith Baldwin Anecodes and stories from his work as a police officer.

21 October 2010		An evening with David Garner Our longest standing speaker offers another informative audio-visual talk on scenery and wildlife.

18 November 2010		Speaker to be confirmed

16 December 2010		No meeting

The 2010 AGM will be held in January 2011. This allows us the time to finish the year's accounts and present the forthcoming year's agenda to you all.
